When She Became Me

An ensemble-based production comprised of real stories from people who had abortions before and after Roe v. Wade; written by Elizabeth Horab (she/they), whose mother worked at the only abortion clinic in North Dakota in the 1990s.
Elizabeth Horab, creator-director of When She Became Me, interviewed and surveyed people over the last decade while writing this play, which contains real women's stories of abortion from before and after Roe v. Wade. These stories; in combination with Elizabeth's experience growing up with her mother volunteering at, working at, and then running the only abortion clinic in ND during the 1990s; come together to create an in-depth sharing of what it means to have an abortion. This play inspires the audience to speak to their family and friends about this very common experience.
When She Became Me made its world premiere with the 2016 MN Fringe; August 5-14.
